Dear Rick,

Thanks so much for calling and talking to me. Everything you said helped ease my mind about my friend Dan, about who I am, and about why the paranormal has and is still happening. It also gave me an overview of what All our lives are really about and it all fits so neatly into the past of planet Earth and its children. You are truely a great teacher and I could have stayed on the phone all night with ya!

Thanks again,
Robin

My name is Robin and I was just viewing your work. Could you please explain the picture Destiny of a Legacy: in the beginning to me? This picture has really hit home with me and I am curious as to what you might say about it. I am a friend of Allen McGees and a member of his organization and am planning to be at the Roan Mountain convention if all goes as planned. If I shouldnÕt be able to make it though, I would love to know more about this particular painting.

Thanks so much,
Robin

Hi there Robin - glad to hear from you.

Destiny of a Legacy is the very first piece I did, which spawned the inspiration for everything else that came afterwards. I look upon that one much the same way a mother might look upon her eldest child. What the painting is referring to in title and content is a redefinition of historical and gnostic accounts of human origins and ET intervention. It's basically re-writing the Bible, Torah or Koran with a more grounded poetic and scientific understanding of gnostic truths evinced in such things as the Nag Hammadi library, Vedic literature and Summerian texts. Symbolisms in it are what really tell the story.

There are 3 prisms that can be interpreted as test tubes each containing one of the three main kingdoms on Earth: land, sea and air. Sea and Air are depicted with fully formed symbols of defined perfection: the Bald Eagle and the Blue Whale. The third and final prism - land - is represented with an unfinished representation of Man (or Woman depending on your perspective/ie. the human race). This aspect of the legacy is as yet unfinished, incomplete and still forming: an experiment in humanity. This "unfinished" aspect is represented by the human sperm cell and human egg cell, uniting together and producing what will hopefully be a successful experiment in balance with the first two kingdoms. Here, the sexual reproduction is symbolized as the daisy, "the flower of life," so to speak. As this extraterrestrial legacy continues, the human race will have to understand it's own destiny, which is best understood in a poetic gnostic phrase that states: "Man is doomed to perfection."

All this comes full circle as you back away from the piece and realize that a face has been camouflaged all this time by the alleged petals of the daisy and the transparent prisms. It is the face of the Progenitor, the creator god or gods of this planet, which just so happens to resemble what others would refer to as a "gray" or "zeta" or "insectoid" type of beings visiting this planet since long before recorded history. What was the petals of the daisy is actually the eyes of the alien, the god. Aside from this being the first piece of serious work, this was also the first piece that got into camouflaged or subliminal visuals being put in the artwork. Some people would see the flower only - and not the eyes. And then all of a sudden it would hit them like a ton of bricks as to what they were really looking at. That's when it gets interesting - to see people's reaction to the artwork in that way. This is not something that I forced on the art - it just happened on it's own. There are other pieces in my work which carry a similar method or approach to such layered symbolisms as well.

Lastly, there is a defining message being given in this piece as well - an ecological message. If the kingdom of land does not get itÕs act together, the kingdom of sea and air will wither and die due to cause and effect, action and reaction, as all things are connected. Case in point: nuclear and atomic testing, EXXON-Valdez oil spill, white-collar crime, water pollution, animal testing and air pollution. This, of course, will bring about the demise of the kingdom of land - death to Man. This is why the Blue Whale and the Bald Eagle are being used here - they have always been favorite listings on the Endangered Species list.

Hope this does it for you. :)

Yes Rick, The explanation was very helpful indeed! It explains to me why I had this repetitive dream growing up of a field of "daisies" where I was shared a deep intimacy with a little boy

. In the dream the boy was taken away from me by mother, who by the way, was an exact image of the alien face in your painting. We vowed to meet again when he was grabbed by mother who by the way was acting very angry. The prisms are symbolic of the 3 triangles I found on my hand after an abduction experience in October 1973. Two of the triangles were perfect and one was not. The way it "comes full circle" reminds me of the field next to our home when I was a child. My family witnessed a giant reddish orange orb dropped there and then shoot straight into the sky. The orb left a huge circle and I played in the circle with my sister many times before it was mowed down. The layering reminds me of being an experiencer and having odd memories that seem like layers. The layers are there and we must go below them to see the actual truth. The eagle and whale remind me of the messages that were put into my head during my abduction experience, the devastation of our planet where I saw fires, winds, and destruction . Thank you! I have learned something from you! Puzzle pieces are falling into place.

See you at the convention!
Robin

Hello, My name is Samantha Civco and I am a freshmen at E.O. Smith High School. I am reading a book by Mya Angelou titled "I know why the caged bird sings." I have to a project on racism and I found you Hybrid Art Gallery. Your paintings are very intriguing. I am planning on painting your picture titled Formula for Racism. I totally understand it, and it really means something to me. If this is ok with you, please e-mail me back at this address: samic00@hotmail.com . Please try to respond ASAP, because I would like to get started on it fairly soon, because it is due on Friday, June 1, 2001.

Thank you for your time,

Hi Samantha - very nice to meet you for the first time by email. Thank you so much for visiting Hybrid Gallery and taking the time to see my art. I appreciate it. It sounds to me like you have a wonderful idea on your mind and I am glad that you can appreciate what I am doing with my art in that respect.

So, if I understand you correctly, you would like to "re-paint" a piece of artwork of mine titled Formula for Racism and use it towards your project research on the subject of racism. My answer is yes, by all means, this sounds like a worthwhile endeavor you are doing and I am honored to be included in your project. And thank you for asking me. I never thought I would ever see the day when both myself and the highly regarded Mya Angelou would be included in the same arena - this is definitely very cool.

There are a few minor things that are necessary in this case, and this is all that I ask of you:
1. Any and all references in your project towards the original source of the artwork should read as such Formula for Racism ©1994 Rick Smith/UFOteacher.Com This will cover all bases legally and will be most appreciated by me, the artist, of course.

2. If possible (because of my enthusiasm as an artist towards your project) would you be able to somehow send me a copy of what you did? I would love to have something of what you are doing on record so that others can see. Of course, the project itself would always be legally copyright protected under your name and nothing could be done with it without your permission.

Email me back ASAP and let me know what you think. In the meantime, go ahead and get cracking on your project so you can have it in time for Friday. If you need any advice towards your project, feel free to email me whenever you want. Good luck to you - your idea is quite inspirational. All my contact info is listed below. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Rick Smith, artist
P.S. - Since this particular piece means something to you, I would like to send you a print of it, signed by me, at no charge to you. Let me know what mailing address would be suitable to send it to and I will get it mailed to you right away.

Dear Mr. Smith,
Thank you so much for responding to my e-mail. I really appreciate it. My dad took pictures of my painting, and if they turn out ok, I will send them to you over the computer, or to your address, which was given on the last e-mail you sent.

Well, I got my grade, because I turned it in early! (My teacher loves when people/students are prepared) I got and A+++, I know that is hard to believe, but here was the rubric: -If a painting or a drawing, a B (for example) would be a B+ - If a collage, regular credit and grading (b/c paintings and drawings are much more time consuming) -Speech, presentation, relation to you

So I got an A+ on the painting, My speech and so on, got me and extra '+', and then I brought in the e-mail that you so kindly sent me, and that just blew his mind! He thought it was so cool, and so do I. I want to thank you for everything. You said in the last e-mail that you wanted to send an autographed copy of the picture to me, and you asked for my address.
[xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]
Thank you again for everything! I really appreciate it!
Sincerely ( the young artist),
Samantha Civco

Hello Rick Just breaking through the bonds of dyslexia I am taking my first baby-steps on the net. You seem to have the know-how to get your site together. Good-on-ya mate. How did you get brave enough to let the world see you art.I have a collection and the thought of doing something like this ( your gallery) is exciting and frightening at the same time. With the small number of "showings" I have had I am amazed with the reception the paintings get.

People can openly express their love facination curiosity etc for the work. I am still scared of it in may ways yet still I have the same fondness (and more) for certain pieces that is mirrored by them.I want to break free of all the negative feedback from a lifetime of being "a different-little-kid"/teenager/adult.To think that you can be open and be recognized for that is just such a new concept - I feel like someone that's been told news that's "too-good-to-be-true" that sort of half laughing half crying thing. How busy you are - I don't know - should you have time to respond to this it would be great to talk with you.Thank you for being an inspiration!!

When i linked to your site, i expected to find more fad/ media hype. i am ECSTATIC to see the messages you are sending to the collective conscious. Although i do not consider myself an "abductee", i am an artist and very receptive (most call me psychic). Of course, being ideally human i often doubt that "inner voice" i hear that imparts knowledge i "should" have no way of knowing (although i do believe we are given access to infinite knowledge if we ask the right way) Downfall II (milk carton image)caused me to get up and walk away from my computer, muttering "oh my god, oh my god"...the implications are horrific, but not unknown to me.

It's just STELLAR that i'm not the only one running around saying "Don't eat cows," so to speak (yes, i'm a vegetarian)but i havenÕt been quite able to so eloquently explain my reasonings. i have been (ugh, i admit it!) AFRAID and reluctant to share what i feel (uh-oh another crazy), but have been a major proponent of DENOUNCING these white faces whenever i see them in the media, t-shirts, stickers. After viewing the images you've created, i feel more empowered and more vocal. We all have a job to do here and somehow i feel i have been neglecting my duties. Visiting your site was a gentle prod in the right direction. People are listening, the information is flooding in and now its time for us collectively to do something about it. i will refer your site to many and will return.

With gratitude for your contribution
